The Real Me…

Just a quick post really…Blossom Records has now moved from Norwich Market to a premises at 14 Bridewell Alley Norwich.

I wont be posting via this page anymore as I cant find the time for it….but if you’re interested in following my personal blog you can find it here:

I reblog alot of images and text which inspires me but its also a place where I post progress pics of the shop being made and my own personal projects from time to time.

I’m glad winter is here *kinda* …..this means I can have the heater / fairy lights on and it makes the shop look like some sort of spaceship - hurrah!

Working on extending out the front next week…..this means more decoupage and a large can of black paint. *rolls up sleeves* thankfully my Dad is able to help me pick up stuff in the car tomorrow. I have no idea how we’ve managed to get this far without one!

Finally finished the record player I’ve been working on for what seems like forever, so glad its down at the shop now…had to get it there before I overworked it lol

Planning on doing up a little Civic 600 next, needs a service though not sure where to take it for one :( Thinking about doing it red with some dot work chrysanthemums or something not sure yet :)

In the middle of doing up a lovely old Dansette record player - now cleaning it up - thought the mechanism was pretty ^.^

Todays progress on the Dansette… ^.^

Dansette Salvage, Restoration & Customisation! ^_^
Thought of a way to juggle the shop and be creative…restoring and customising vintage record players!
So last week, found looking a bit neglected and kicked about was a vintage Dansette record player (approx 1962 - 1969) poking out one end of a skip. Carried it back home, opened it up, gave it a look over to see if it had all its parts. Plugged it in and grabbed the only music left in the flat…an antique book of 78s. Popped on one at random, and it came to life! Cant believe it was in such perfect nick considering it looked like it had been tossed around. Such a lucky find :)
Sat looking at it on the side table for a week or so thinking about what I could do to it. The volume and tone knobs look a bit scratched but the front is fine, thinking about replacing them with new ones. Got some wood filler and healed its mauled edge and corner. Sanded it back, painted it with a sponge for a nice flat finish. Now painting a design on it. Place is a tip, but I tend to work better in a nest :S
Thought it might be nice to show it coming together and my artistic process, I guess now I’m not an art student anymore I miss documenting my work, so this tumblr page is somewhere for me to plonk random thoughts / photos / stuff that inspires me from others etc.
Anyway enough rambling - gotta get back to it!
